Pediatric Catheter
Pediatric Catheters are shorter and thinner with neonates & infants requiring 5-6 fr and 12 year olds 10-14 fr. Pediatric Catheters are available for indwelling (Foley Catheters) and for short term Catheterization (Intermittent Catheters). The main reason to perform Pediatric Cath is specimen collection. To lessen trauma on the child, the procedure should be performed by a specialist. Parents may request to be present. A Hydrophilic Pediatric Catheter that slides easily like Coloplast?s Self Cath is recommended.
